New lawn hydroseeding
You have a full time job and maybe a family…you probably haven’t had time to study the intricacies of Hydro-seeding. The good news is LushLawn has studied hydro-seeding...a lot! While it’s best for us to personally show you the value of Hydro-Seeding, here are answer to some of the most common questions.
What is hydro-seeding?
Hydro-seeding is a simple process utilizing water, seed, fertilizer, and a wood fiber/paper soil is seeded, fertilized, watered, and mulched in a one-step application.
When that process is complete, a green "mat" covers the newly seeded area. That's LushLawn’s hydro mulch and it performs these 3 valuable functions.
-
Moisture Retention: Seeds are kept moist because hydro-mulch retains 10-15 times its weight in water. Water is the key ingredient for a quicker, thicker lawn.
-
Erosion Control: Wind and water erosion can prevent satisfactory results. Hydro-mulch "blankets" the area and helps to prevent these problems from occurring.
-
Seed Protection: Hydro-mulch helps maintain soil temperature and protects young seeds from the scorching sun. It forms an almost perfect micro-climate for maximum germination.
As your lawn becomes established, the hydro-mulch will gradually decompose and disappear.
Why insist on LushLawn’s hydro-seeding?
-
Hydro-seeding provides an instant green carpet which eliminates all dust and mud problems and allows limited foot traffic the same day it is installed.
-
LushLawn’s hydro-seeding reduces lawn costs over sod 60%.
-
Hydro-seeding requires less watering due to Instant Green fiber mulch that retains 10-15 times its weight in moisture. It also inhibits growth of weed and conditions the soil.
-
Hydro-seeding seams or shrinkage during hot weather as with sod.
-
You can select the type of lawn you prefer. One requiring low maintenance, as well as one that grows equally in the sun or shade.
-
Hydro-seeding can be applied over any soil and even on the most inaccessible areas such as slopes and severe grades.
What about seed?
We all would like to save a few dollars when installing a new lawn. The easiest way to do this is to spend less on the seed. Since the seed is the only part of the job that must meet your expectations and is seen by everyone for years to come, LushLawn would suggest that cutting costs here doesn't make sense. Look for the new improved varieties of grass seed. They offer better color, texture, stress tolerance, and performance than common species. When you need to do some touch-up seeding in future years, these varieties will blend nicely with your existing lawn.
How long does hydroseeding take?
Hydroseeding requires less time to germinate than conventional seeding methods. Depending on weather conditions ryegrass begins to germinate in five to seven days. Your lawn should need mowing in about three weeks.
