Frequently asked questions
Do I need to be home when my application is done?
No...most of our treatments are done while most people are at work. When you do get home take a look in your invoice packet left by your technician. He may have left you specific instruction regarding your lawn/landscape. For best results, please follow his advice.
Do I need to water in my treatment?
For the fastest results and improvement, yes. or you can just wait for the rain, if you like.
What if it rains right after a treatment
Fertilizer needs water to activate it. Weed control needs 15-20 minutes to dry on the plant. After that, the rain is actually beneficial. If you do not see weeds curling after 2 weeks let us know, we'll reapply, at no cost to you.
Do I really have to cut my lawn at two and one half inches?
For a thicker healthier lawn, yes. Try it, after one month, you'll never go back to shorter cutting heights.
Should I bag my clippings?
If you cut at the one third rule, NO. The one third rule means never remove (cut) more than one third of the grass blade at one time. If this is not possible and excessive amounts of clippings will smother the grass, then the clippings need to be raked or bagged. Remember grass clippings contain a good bit of fertilizerin the clippings and removing the clippings will remove this fertilizer from your lawn.
What about my bill?
An invoice will be left at the time of application. Payment is due upon receipt. At certain times, we accept seasonal prepayment. We accept Master Card and Visa. The invoice explains what was done to your lawn/landscape, what your responsibilities are and may have special instructions or notes from your technician.
What if I need a reapplication or a service call?
Call us to schedule. Service Calls are always free for 4 and 5 treatment customers.
I was looking out my front window, saw the technician spray the front lawn and leave. What about the back?
Very common question. The technicians start in the back, at the farthest corner, and "paint their way out". If you were not looking out the back where they started you probably missed them.
What about next season?
Our service agreements auto renew each season or until you tell us to stop.
My lawn was sprayed 2 weeks ago, and the weeds are still there?
If the weeds are curling and twisting, death is indicated. Actual decomposition can take more time, sometimes up to ? weeks. Weeds die at varying rates at different times of the year and under varying climatic conditions (high heat, low moisture).
My hydroseeding was done a month ago, and it's coming in thin and blotchy. Why?
This is NORMAL, different types of grass seed (bluegrass, ryegrass etc.), germinate at different times. Some take longer, so it is important to wait the entire germination period before being concerned. Lateral movement and filling take 16 weeks or more depending on timing.
My hydroseeding didn't take. Why?
There is no such thing as a hydroseeding that didn't take—just people who do not take our advice. Please see our booklet..."The care and feeding of your new hydro seeded lawn".
I have orange dust on my shoes and lawn mower. Why?
This is called rust disease. Rust is common on new lawns the first season or two. Avoid night watering, cut tall and often. Call us immediately to schedule a follow-up fertilization.
It rained all last week. Do I still have to water my hydroseeding?
Yes, every day it does not rain, you do need to put some moisture into the lawn. Please refer to your watering guide for the proper technique and amount. Some parts need to be cut, but not others. Cut back to two and three quarters inches whatever needs to be cut. If you have lots of weeds, cut them back too, and temporarily bag the clippings.
When can you weed my newly hydroseeded lawn?
When the lawn has been cut 5-8 times, we can safely weed it for you. A spring seeding should not be weeded till fall. A fall seeding won't be weeded until the following spring.
I had a treatment and I don't see much improvement yet.
Remember, this is a series of events, with an expected result; we need to do ALL the events recommended before you'll see a significant improvement. Sometime, on really bad lawns, that can be a season or two. Be patient, this can be a slow process, but one that will work over time. We guarantee it.
